Coolest Neighborhoods in Austin to Live | Most Iconic Austin Neighborhoods

Austin Living, Vlog

If you’re going to move to one of the best cities in the world, you want to make sure you know about the coolest and most iconic neighborhoods in Austin, Texas to live in!

Allandale
Allandale has an older, small town vibe that feels like what Austin was 30-40 years ago.
Homes in general are older – built in the 50’s – 70’s.  Most are one-story, ranch-style on bigger lots with huge trees.  There’s lots of local, independently owned shops, restaurants, bars and coffee shops.

North Loop
North Loop is very close to Allandale and has a similar vibe.
The homes are pretty comparable to those in Allandale – most were built post WWII – they are mostly single-story ranch style homes on larger lots with big oak trees in the front and back yards.

Cherrywood
Cherrywood is known for having a really eclectic style. With the homes being a little bit smaller and have that cottagey feel to them. It is a smaller community and it’s mostly homes with shops, restaurants and bars that you can walk to along Manor Rd.

Old West Austin
Old West Austin is the largest historic district in Texas and it is much closer to downtown Austin.
The styles of homes in Old West are definitely distinct from what you will find in Allandale, North Loop and Cherrywood. They are more stately homes with columns and large yards. Old West is mainly residential and you can find iconic Austin restaurants just on the outskirts.

Zilker
Zilker is a pretty big neighborhood and the layout is similar to Allendale. It’s a very eclectic neighborhood with lots of ranch-style homes and massive homes with completely unique architecture. There is lots to do in Zilker with so much green and outdoor space. You will also find lots of bars and restaurants.
